2012 SPRING "MOCK" INTERVIEW WORKSHOPS AT SALINAS HIGH SCHOOL

A great way to "give back" to our community is to help high school juniors develop interview skills by participating in "mock" interview workshops at Salinas High School.  Salinas High has presented these workshops in the past and has received positive feedback from the students, community representatives, and teachers.  Many students have said that the interview workshops are one of the most valuable experiences they have every had.  For more information, please contact Brad Gebert or Audrey Sharp at 796-7451 before 3:00 p.m.  Please see the schedule below:  (All workshops are held in the Salinas High Library)

EL SAUSAL MIDDLE SCHOOL'S AVID PROGRAM RECOGNIZED AS NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION SITE

El Sausal Middle School's AVID Program was recognized as a National Demonstration Site on April 27.  This means that El Sausal is a model school for any other school in the country that might want to implement an AVID Program at their site.  Out of 4,500 schools, only 121 have the title of "National Demonstration School".

Cole Maschmeyer, Sam Foster, Gisela Velez, Cesar Rivas, Jr., Carissa Hernandez, Stephanie Diaz, and Jorge Arias will represent California at the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Championship in Kansas City, Missouri on June 23-27, 2012.

 

SALINAS UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES HONOR 2012 UC BERKELEY INCENTIVE AWARD RECIPIENTS

The Board of Trustees honored the UC Berkeley Incentive Award Recipients for 2012 at its meeting held Tuesday, April 10.  Randy Bangs, Director of ROP/Alternative Education, explained the program and the selection process.  The UC Berkeley Incentive Award Recipients are as follows:  Juan Barajas (AHS), Joanna Ruelas (NSHS), Jasmine Hipolito (NSHS), Bryan Tena (SHS), and Melissa Cervantes (SHS). Each student will receive $32,000 over four years for the incentive award. Principals Dan Burns, Steve Oliver, and Sascha Heckmann introduced the students and their family members in attendance.
